Many have commented that watching
Louie operate the bobcat is like second nature or his “third hand”. The
experience, integrity and commitment to quality and superior material
has caused King’s Bobcat Service, Incorporated to stand out from their
competition. Even back in 1980, Construction
News took notice and printed a story entitled
"King of the Bobcats".
Construction has always been a
part of my life. After serving in the U.S. Air Force in 1962, I worked
as an apprentice for Boh Brothers Construction.
In
1966, I met and married my dear wife and business partner, Mickey and we
remain happily married and committed to our Christian faith. I have been
blessed with three children. My daughters Cherie and Christy have given
us 7 wonderful grandchildren. My son Mark
is my bobcat operator and business partner.
In 1972, I joined the Jefferson Parish Fire
Department where I served and retired after 28 years as Captain. In an
effort to supplement my fire department wages, we decided to purchase a
dump truck and began hauling dirt as a second job.
I quickly developed loyal customers and had constant requests to spread
dirt. It was in 1978 when I first met Sid Duhon of Duhon Machinery. We
instantly became friends and Sid remains one of my greatest friends and
business associates. Everyone at Duhon has
always gone out of their way to help in any way possible. Their
team are top notch professionals.
My father-in-law,
Charlie, who was like
a second dad to me, together purchased our
first bobcat. With the help of Sid, we began learning every aspect of
the bobcat business. In just 2 years, our
small business had grown into a fleet of 12 machines and the largest
bobcat rental business in Louisiana. Charlie and I were constantly
servicing, delivering and doing whatever it took to keep our customers
happy and coming back. What was once a part-time endeavor, quickly
became a full-time job. Mickey was busy all day answering phones,
scheduling deliveries and keeping our books.
In 1982, we closed the rental business and continued in construction
applications full-time. Our work expanded to include removal and
replacement of driveways, sidewalks, patios and slabs. We worked on new
construction and additions.
Four
years ago, we embarked on a new endeavor---pile driving. We truly enjoy
this type of construction and it has quickly become one of our most
requested services. We can drive any class piling up
to 40' and our specialty is minimum
clearance. My son, Mark has operated the bobcat since he was a toddler
(pictured bottom right). He spread his first load of dirt
at age 8. Today, he is able to maneuver the machine through the tightest
of spaces with ease.
We are the oldest bobcat
business in Louisiana and we have the very best equipment in the
industry. We take pride in our honesty, integrity and in the finished
product. Our ultimate goal has always been to satisfy our customers.
We have developed relationships
with specialist and engineers to aid us in creating a safe and closely
monitored work environment. Please be sure to
